  • 8 SEPTEMBER 2018

Venue: POSTCITY Linz, Austria

Date: 8 September 2018

Birgitta Hosea gave a talk at the 6th Expanded Animation symposium, part of the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria on 8 September.

Hosea’s talk titled ‘ON PARACINEMA AND THE DEMATERIALISATION OF ANIMATION’, included a mention about her exhibition ‘Erasure’ at Hanmi Gallery Seoul (30.8.2018 – 19.10.2018).

In collaboration with the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences’ Hagenberg Campus, the 6th Expanded Animation symposium carries on a process launched in 2013 — mapping the wide-ranging domain of animated worlds of imagery beyond the well-trodden paths. The symposium stays the course as originally set at its inception, and presents theoretical positions and perspectives from the art world, the R&D field and the industrial sector. The mission: To function as a driving force advancing an interdisciplinary discourse. This year’s symposium is an inquiry into future interfaces in animation. Interfaces in Motion will focus on animation technology at the manifold interface where humans, computers and interaction meet.

Ars Electronica is one of the world’s largest media art venues, a digital music festival, a showcase for creativity and innovation, and a playground for the next generation – Ars Electronica is a world-class festival for art, technology and society. This year’s theme was ‘Error: The Art of Imperfection’.
