Amanda Kern Lambert on ‘Spaces in Transition’, A.K.LAMBERT Blog

Hanmi Gallery Photography exhibition

Amanda will be representing Alfonso Batalla and Fernando Perez Fraile alongside Chris King and Paul Tucker in the photography exhibition ‘Spaces in Transition’. The exhibition will take place at the Hanmi Gallery from the 13th to the 23rd of February.

The four artists will show work that explores time, space and decay. Alfonso Batalla explores this by placing vibrant objects into a decaying space. In the past he has responded to the work of Damien Hirst in a playful yet profound manner. He has had a number of successful solo and group shows and is a feature on ‘Saatchi Online’. Batalla has selected works from his project,Rooms of Solitude. Fernando Pérez Fraile has a diverse portfolio of work ranging from architecture to photography. As an architecthe is best known for his participation in the design of the Guggenheim, Bilbao. He has exhibited throughout London since he arrived in 2001 with his latest solo show, Spaces of Memory, being held in November 2012. He is interested in space as gatekeeper of silence; he believes this relationship holds the secrets to memory.

Chris King is a London based portrait photographer who endures to capture the reality of any moment he is present in. King has selected his most recent explorations of southern America to exhibit at the Hanmi Gallery. Paul Tucker has selected works from his series Under the Surface; a visual investigation of the recent refurbishment of the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, North East London. The series displays the passing of time through the physical stripping of the interior gallery.
