London’s Art14 has announced its participants for its section edition, including seven Korean gallerists out of 173 total. In the main section will be Arario GalleryHakgojae Gallery, Gallery K.O.N.G., and Leehwaik Gallery. The Emerge category, which focuses on young venues, will include Gallery Em, Gallery SoSo, and Hanmi Gallery, which also has an outpost in London.

Art14 will open February 28 to March 2, 2014. The VIP preview will be February 27.

 

– The 5th Gwangju Design Biennale received its highest approval rating yet with 76.4 percent of the general public satisfied this year, according to a survey by the Korea Intelligence Research institute released November 17.

The survey asked a random selection of 1,000 Koreans and 150 expats. Of the total, 79 percent said they were satisfied with the event, 76.5 percent said they approved of the content and theme, and 75.6 percent said they understood and shared the design values of the biennale. And finally, 75.9 percent of survey participants said they had an interest in design.

The number of people who visited the biennale twice or more was 54.7 percent, and among them, 10 percent said they had attended all four of the event’s previous editions. A total 82.5 percent said they would attend the 2015 Gwangju Design Biennale.

 

– The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art will undergo personnel changes at its Deoksu location, following the opening of the Seoul branch earlier this month.

Staff was previously organized by seven teams to a department, and will switch to a single team for each. Meanwhile at MMCA Seoul, a new staff will make up personnel, not transfers from the either Deoksu or the Gwacheon location. It will be comprised of two exhibition programming departments, an information service department, and an operational support team.
